l know there are many different laws and regulations regarding the owning of reptiles...does anyone have specific information or links to the info?

what are the laws about owning reptiles

Here is a list of which states in the USA allow exotic pets (and which exotics they allow)

http://api4animals.org/b4a2_exotic_animals_summary.php

Keep in mind, a state could allow a certain kind of reptile, but a county might not. For example: In California, it is legal to keep most reptiles as pets, barring certain venomoids & all crocodilians. However in San Fransisco county, it is illegal to keep any constrictors over three feet in length.

In conclusion, that is a pretty good list to figure out what is allowed & what isn't, but u still should check with ur county first.

Good luck, I hope this helps!

It depends on what state you live in. Most do not allow venemous snakes without a permit, and other than that, any normal captive bred reptile is usually ok. Most snakes, turtles, and lizards fall in this category.
The laws usually apply to animals such as the venemous snakes, alligators, large turtles/tortoises, endangered species, etc.
